Image Composition Analysis Software for Content Filtering

"70% of pornography is downloaded between the working hours of 9-5" (Sextracker, USA)

"30 to 40% of employee Internet activity is not business related, costing employers millions of £ in lost productivity"
(IDC Report)

"The third most common attachment to an email is a JPEG image file"
(IDC Report)

"We get three million emails a day. Five per cent of those have images attached, and 30 per cent of the images are pornographic. By integrating ICA into our email filtering software, we give resellers an added-value proposition." Mark Sunner, chief technical officer, MessageLabs

"As Filtering becomes more of a 'must have' product it is important to be able to enhance our significant policy engines to understand increasing types of content…. After evaluating and testing a number of products on the market over the last 12 months, we concluded that F4i provided the most comprehensive and advanced image recognition software platform for our needs. " Steve Purdham, CEO of SurfControl.

What is ICA?
Image Composition Analysis (ICA) Software is a tool to help protect organisations and individuals from pornographic and other offensive images. Independent benchmarking conducted by TesCom has confirmed that the software prevents 95% of pornographic images from reaching the computer screen.

The application is cross-platform enabled and can reside on a server, with an ISP or on an intranet. It is also available as a standalone PC product. It provides a unique solution for overcoming the very serious problem of pornography on the Internet.

How does It Work?
This comprehensive filter system carries out numerous detailed permutations at high speed to assess the suitability of content for viewing. In its two years of development the software has been intensively tested involving millions of images encompassing everything from typical family snapshots and artistic material to the most extreme pornography. F4i has constructed a library of analytical capabilities, which provides the filter with its unique ability to process digital images at high speed.

The software achieves high levels of accuracy in identifying pornographic images and, crucially, has a low error rate in misidentifying innocuous images (false positives).

The CA filter is designed to analyse the content of an image and determine if it has attributes of a pornographic nature. It can also be given profiles that represent other images such as company logos, trademarks or offensive icons.

How is it different?
It uses sophisticated analytical processes consisting over 22,000 algorithms. The analysis incorporates artificial intelligence while determining the attributes, orientation and content of each image in order to assess whether or not an image is pornographic. It operates at high speed avoiding latency and allows the system administrator to monitor and or block individual images.

ICA operates without having to rely on large server based databases, the software footprint is less than 5Mb and is complementary to existing security solutions that may be resident on corporate networks.

Key Benefits :

  • Protecting employees from the distribution of offensive images in the workplace.
  • Protecting employers from sexual harassment cases, loss of productivity and damage to corporate reputations.
  • Meeting Government targets and requirements for safe surfing on the Internet.
  • Helping to protect children on the Internet, in a shared environment, both at home and in education
  • Setting the standard for self-regulation within the adult industry by restricting access only to authorised customers and so promoting responsible commerce in the industry.
